09:23 pm - Yet another reason I love teaching ESL
It was the third day of 90 degree mugginess in New Hampshire today, so I busted out a sleeveless dress and then added some nice heels to make it more professional. This afternoon I got an email from one of my students about a class presentation, and at the end he wrote:

"P.D.: wow today you was so gorgeous :)"

I find that my students (male and female, it's not a sexual thing) are very appreciative when I dress up, and their compliments tend to be kind of exaggerated, due to a lack of vocabulary. I mean, "beautiful" is one of the first adjectives you learn in a foreign language, or at least it's one of the first I learned in French and in Russian. Still it's awfully nice to walk into my classroom and hear one of the Korean girls exclaim, "Oh, teacher, today you are very beautifur!"

Sometimes my job rules. The car hunt continues to suck green monkey dicks, but my job rules.
